WHO WE ARE

Our History

It all began in 2003 when we found ourselves at our wits’ end, searching for a solution to help our special needs daughter, Judy Grace, sleep soundly in her own bed. At the time, Judy’s autism hadn’t been officially diagnosed, but her struggles with staying in bed were evident. She often sought comfort or the presence of a parent during the night. Upon a recommendation, we decided to try getting her a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel in the hopes that a furry companion might bring her solace. Despite having exhausted other options, we were hopeful that a Cavalier puppy could make a difference.

To our amazement, our little Benny, the Cavalier puppy, turned out to be just what Judy needed. While Cavaliers aren’t typically known as therapy dogs, Benny seemed to intuitively understand Judy’s needs. He became her constant companion, offering comfort whenever she needed it most. Whenever Judy felt distressed, Benny would curl up beside her on the couch or nestle into her lap, providing a source of reassurance and warmth. Over the course of the 14 years we shared with Benny, there were countless moments when Judy would hold him close as she drifted off to sleep, finding solace in his presence.

Through our experiences with Benny, we came to believe that every home could benefit from the presence of a Cavalier, especially those with special needs children. Over the years, we welcomed other Cavaliers into our family, each displaying a remarkable ability to sense when Judy or anyone else in the house was upset. Their innate empathy and gentle nature brought comfort to all who crossed their path.

In 2022, inspired by our journey with Cavaliers, we made the decision to start breeding these wonderful dogs so that other families could experience the same love and comfort they had brought into our lives. Each litter of puppies is welcomed into the world in our living room and raised with care and affection. Judy Grace, now older, delights in bonding with the puppies and helping us prepare them for their forever homes.

We share our story in the hope that it may inspire others and offer reassurance that whether you have a special needs child or simply crave comfort during life’s challenges, a Cavalier can bring immeasurable joy, unconditional love, and a sense of peace to your home. Truly, every home needs a Cavalier!

Training Package:  Secure your puppy now and welcome a bundle of joy this holiday season! We can hold your puppy until the week of Christmas (about 4 more weeks), during which time they will receive age-appropriate vaccinations, a rabies shot, and complete a month-long training program. This package is available for an additional $750, payable at the time of deposit.

We cannot wait until we can talk to your or FaceTime to see our pups!

Note: Some of our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have been placed in homes as therapy dogs, supporting individuals with trauma, children with special needs, and rehabilitation therapy programs.

The moment we contacted the Holts inquiring about a puppy, the communication and information flowed. From the initial FaceTime, when we first met “our girl” (nearly 3 weeks old) to pick up day and beyond, they consistently shared her progress and development. They sent pictures, videos and texts. We FaceTimed and had phone conversations. We also had a wonderful visit when our pup was about 6 weeks old and met her mama and siblings.
Our Birdie Mae is now 4 months old, healthy and social. She is a great listener and learns so easily.
Claudia, Chuck and family truly love their dogs and each puppy. Their caring and commitment is evident in all that they do. We were very lucky to have worked with them and highly recommend Judy’s Cavaliers.

We have had a great experience in dealing with the Holts. They were available and answered all questions, provided ongoing interaction until our puppy was available.we have had her for 3 weeks now and following her first vet visit at 12 weeks was healthy. She appears to be very smart and sociable. I would highly recommend them!

I met Georgie, a one year-old Cavalier in November 2023. He was a beautiful, confident and well-socialized King Charles Cavalier; and was immediately smitten! Turns out his breeders, Claudia and Chuck Holt, were expecting a new litter in January 2024 from their family dog Callie.
Thus began my journey to find the perfect puppy for my second therapy dog.
From the very beginning, Claudia Holt was knowledgeable, warm, engaging, open and always willing to answer questions. She kept me informed of Callie’s pregnancy and sent pictures as she progressed until Callie had her litter at the end of January. Despite being several hundred miles away, we felt like we were there ourselves as 6 new puppies entered the world. Now, the hard decision was to pick a pup. Over time, Claudia came to know us very well and directed us to the perfect little guy. Neptune: Young, spirited, confident and a little particular. He fits right in.
Once my puppy was selected, pictures and videos were always appearing on my phone. Eventually it became a community adoption as my friends joined in. It was wonderful to watch the puppies grow and learn in such a healthy and happy home. It is evident that this couple loves what they do and are eager to learn as well as teach. From the beginning Claudia told us she would keep the puppies 9-10 weeks to help establish a base of training, socialization and insure they were mature enough to be separated. Her decision and insight were right on.
By the time our pup came home, he was well on his way to being socialized, potty and crate trained. In our home he is comfortable in his crate (walking in and out freely during the day) and confident enough to explore our world – though usually with us.. Additionally Claudia had the pups vet checked, recommended their feed, gave us a to-do list along with some starter items and took the time to microchip them all. Our little guy has been with us almost a week, is very happy, a picture of health, always playful, sleeping well in his crate and more curious each day. But, he is still a puppy and just like any child, needs some structure and general boundaries. Wherever we go, he follows along – slip sliding on our wooden floors. It is clear he sees himself as a family member and secure enough within our home and us. Even now, he’s sprawled out at my feet napping. Probably waiting for a belly rub.
The Holts are always there to give advice, encouragement and knowledge. With the animal’s best interest in mind, they never compromise from that starting point. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Cavalier. Not just diligent breeders, they are good people and folks we can now call friends and mentors. Good experience start to finish – as my little guy looks up with loving eyes.
